COSMETOLOGY


                                                                         
Gone are those days when beauty use to lie in simplicity. When it comes to the ‘so called’ Gen X and Gen Y, beauty lies in Cosmetology. Strange, but true! Cosmetology in last decade or so has emerged as one of the most booming industries.
Cosmetology, in itself, means ‘beautifying’. The simple or dare I say, the cosmetic definition goes like, the study and application of beauty treatment. Branches of specialty including hairstyling, skin care, cosmetics, manicures/pedicures, and electrology.
Now the definition has provided us with a broader idea that what exactly the field comprises of. So the cosmetologist showcases his special talent in the fields like hairstyling, skin care, cosmetics and manicures/pedicures.
Career is what today everybody is concerned with and cosmetology doesn’t disappoint you as it offers you with -
Shampoo technician.  He shampoos and conditions a client's hair in preparation for the hair stylist.
Manicure.  A cosmetic treatment for the fingernails or hands.
Esthetician. Works at salons and day spas
Nail technician. A nail technician specializes in the art form and care of nails.
Electrologist.  Offers services with the use of a machine.
Hair stylist. Who cuts and styles hair.
Hair colorist.  Hair stylist that specializes in coloring hair.
Makeup artist. a branch of cosmetology that specializes in the application of cosmetics to a person’s face.
Facts:
So far so good but when not taken care of properly, many chemicals used pose potential health risks.
·         Hazardous chemicals found in common treatments include dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde, lye, ammonia, and coal tar.
·         Reducing the exposure should be the sole focus. Allergies and dermatitis are health problems that have forced approximately 20% of hairdressers to stop practicing their profession
Courses:
In order to be a cosmetologist, one must attend a state-licensed barber or cosmetology school and be at least 16 years old. Training programs in hairstyling and cosmetology last approximately nine months and may result in earning an associate degree.

Technology:
The computer plays a significant role in it as the clients can know it online that how he would look after he opts for a particular hair style. Electrology too is machine dependent.
Nature: So a cosmetologist cuts, trims and shapes hair or hair pieces, Bleaches, dyes, or tints hair, combs, brushes, and sprays hair or wigs to set style, massages and treats scalp for hygienic purposes.
Conclusion: So cosmetology offers a wide array of opportunities and looking at its demand, it is up for grabs for more coming years.
