Engineering education at ASSAM

In the current scenario there are number of courses offered after passing higher secondary exams

there are certain professional course which a student might choose which is best suited for

for his career.I have choosen Engineering in IT because I have a great intrest in software

field.

      There are number of good colleges in the state of Assam which are known for their

quality education and placement records.

It is very crucial situation for any student to choose any college for an student for higher

studies and when we talk about engineering education it is more and more difficult to choose

because  in the professional course the repotation and educational environment of the college

decide what the student is going to achieve in his life.I am agree that in college everything

depends on the student that how he/she performs in his academics but a good college gives

students an environment where he can grow his/her skills.

      Apart from that in now scenario there are certain aspects which helps to decide which

college to choose and these are as following:

1)Infrastructure

2)Fee

3)Placement

4)Research

1)Infrastructure:- Firstly talking about the infrastructure,it is one of the most attractive feature

that attracts students to move to any college.Infrastructure in the past scenario refers to the

construction of building and mall,bridges and modernisation but in the concern with the

engineering college it is not just about a modern building spread in a large area but it

also includes the various facilities and equipment availability and most of that good faculty.

In the north-eastern region of India Assam has the wide ranging  network of higher educational

institutes.

There are three best colleges of India well known all over the world and these are:

1)IndianInstitute of Technology,Guwahati,Assam

2)NationalInstitute of Technology,Silcher,Assam

3)Tezpur University,Assam

These are the most famous and placement oriented institutes for engineering in Assam.

If we talk about the infrastructure two of them are government colleges and we all are

agree that every government institute suffer for funds and same is the case for them but

even though they have their names in worlds top colleges and universities that means if

any college has just sufficient infrastructure it can be a better one. On the other hand

many private colleges spend all the funds for the infrastructure and yet they fail to prove

itself a good college.

     

2)Fees- In India fees is the factor which matters for somebody and doesn't  matter for most

of the people.In India there are around 70 percent money of whole country which is occupied

only by 8000 people even though noone is poor for education what i mean that everyone has

many option to complete his/her education by getting loans from bank which are easily available

and various sources are there and government and other private institute provide scholarships

to the bright students.

Besides this a poor student have to sacrifice for his/her dream due to high cost of the education.

The fees for an engineering student depends on his/her performance on the entrance test.

There are two types of seats available in government colleges:

1)Government Aided Seats

2)Self Finance Seat

1)Government Aided Seats:Government Aides seats are the seats available in the college on which

government provides aid.These seats can be occupied by performing well in the Entrance test.

2)Self Finance Seats:-Another seat which an engineering college offers to student is Self Finance

seat which is fully paid by the students.

   Even having SFS  SC/ST students have their 80% fee back by the samaj kalyan vibhag,Assam

Not even this many private organization help poor students for their further studies.

3)Faculty:- The most interesting and important factor is faculty in engineering.Any student come

to engineering college to study four year and grow his/her communication skills ,Technical skills

and learn throughout the course from everywhere where faculty play an important role.

      Engineering students complete his education by clearing all his doubts about

the subjects and if the faculty is not good then it is not possible for any student to clear

his doubts and prepare for the industry.

But talking about Assam there are number of good faculties in almost all colleges who are

ready to share their valuable ideas with students.

      But apart from that in present scenario there is centralised system to educate the people

,students and their are number of universities which provide online education free of cost so

poor student who are not able to go to a good college can gain knowledge throught internet.

4)Placement: This is most important factor which is seen when choosing an engineering college

Every engineering student not only engineering student but everybody wants a good job in hand

as he/she completes his/her education and try companies after completin the graduation is

a tiring job and nobody wants to do it willingly.Every student wants that he/she gets addmission

in a college where he/she gets a platform for placement and he/she gets placed.

Talking about the Assam, almost every college has  good placement record and companies

recruits the fresh candidates from a central recruitment process by moving to a single college

and this college invites all other colleges for placement drive.

5)Research:- In engineering, research is backbone of engineering, without research, engineering is

waste of time and money but research is not a small task it costs a lot and a  general student

can't afford it on its own so college is the place where a student can be provided the environment for

research as in the case of IIT Assam students have developed many projects which makes the

life more and more easy.

      Every engineering college is standardized by AICTE to fulfill the basic requirement and

to provide all the facilities to student to build up his/her technical skills .
